Where I Stand: Safe and Livable Streets

Streets are for people first. As we create new neighborhoods and new destinations in high-density Transit Oriented Development corridors, we need to take pedestrian safety more seriously so that people and bicyclists can safely cross the street.

Promote bus, bike, walking, and car/van pooling to connect residents to jobs, services, and resources. Reduce the use of single occupancy car trips. Transportation planning must be connected to our climate justice work.

Support Green Streets with 40% tree canopy coveragein each neighborhood. Continue to support and review the Complete Green Streets policy annually. I will prioritize green infrastructure such as storm water management on a district basis.

Implement Bus Rapid Transit. Continue to monitor as the BRT and the Metro route design unfold to ensure accessibility, especially for people with disabilities.

Plan for the possibility of train service.

Support EV charging stations.
